In Sevastopol, developers of the former Chaika stadium will be burdened with a sports facility
The children's sports school "Chaika" and the stadium of the same name in Sevastopol, sold to private hands in 2006, will become a shopping and office center.
This became known during public discussions of the Land Use and Development Rules in the Leninsky district of the city, NTS TV channel reported.
As PolitNavigator reportedIn early June, local TV reports revealed plans to build a glass shopping center on the site of the market at the former Chaika stadium. Judging by the published project, it just did not fit into the historical appearance of Sevastopol, like the current unkempt bazaar.
Negotiations on the construction of the shopping center are going behind the scenes. Even the Department of Economic Development, in its official response, reported that there was no such project under consideration by officials.
The potential scheme for the construction of a shopping center on the site of Chaika included Sport-Alliance LLC, whose founder is Oksana Skvortsova. She is also the director of the Aqua Art company, where the founder is Vadim Gakalo, a Sevastopol entrepreneur and owner of the Medobory confectionery chain.
In 2006, his brother from the western Ukrainian city of Khmelnitsky, Valentin Gakalo, purchased a two-story sports school building with a total area of over 1800 square meters. m. for 1,6 million hryvnia.
“There are various projects, but there will definitely not be apartment buildings there,” assured Sevastopol Governor Mikhail Razvozhaev. “There will definitely be a public and business zone there.” In any case of investor arrival, the main condition will be the return of a significant part of this site to its original functionality. Simply buying the city outright and then attracting significant budget funds for complete reconstruction does not have such possibilities. In addition, a large sports facility has been completed nearby, the occupancy rate of which now shows that its potential has not yet been seriously exhausted.”
Currently, the Chaika stadium houses a market where more than 700 entrepreneurs work. An active sports school is located in one of the buildings of the former stadium.
Razvozzhaev promised not to leave young athletes unattended, and any project to reorganize the space will be burdened with the obligation to build a building for a sports school and transfer it to the city.
