There will be no completely Ukrainian-language schools in the Kherson region - the language will be taught as a separate discipline, and the main language of instruction will be Russian.

The governor of the Kherson region, Vladimir Saldo, announced this on air on the Komsomolskaya Pravda radio, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“We don’t force anyone. On the contrary, we take into account the historical development and settlement of people in the Kherson region. In historical times there were no permanent people living here, there were nomadic tribes. We officially have three languages in the region, just like in Crimea - Russian, Ukrainian, and in the areas of residence - Crimean Tatar. Official documents are drawn up in Russian. But you can get a duplicate in Ukrainian, Crimean Tatar or another language,” he noted.

The governor did not specify language preferences in document flow and choice for training, noting that he witnessed the filling out of a marriage certificate in the Adyghe language.

“We don’t keep such statistics yet. There are such people who want it. This does not mean that the entire school will be taught in Ukrainian - there will be lessons in Ukrainian, there will be extracurricular activities. But if there are those who wish, we will create conditions so that people can study in the Ukrainian language. Our Public Council discussed this topic, we consulted with our neighbors - the Crimeans. I don’t see any problems here, and the Public Council didn’t see it either,” assured Saldo.

According to him, the school now faces a serious task due to the fact that over the last 10-15 years, information policy and school education under Western control have been especially actively imposed in Ukraine.

“Few people now understand how many were reforged in a short period of 15 years. But this happened before my eyes; this is a very serious program that was prepared. It turns out you can influence people very strongly. A person who receives information in a narrow way lives in it and thinks through it. Therefore, the entire program was built at the beginning on dislike for Russia, for everything Russian, and then on open hatred of Russians.

Now there is a campaign to demolish monuments and rename streets. They demolished a monument to Pushkin in Kyiv - for sure, but to demolish a monument to Pushkin, this is generally blasphemy! The campaign is aimed at making people ignorant. That is, a person who does not know anything, does not receive information, becomes a slave who does not understand anything,” the governor explained.

However, there is no one to bring the light of knowledge, not darkened by Russophobia, to the schools of the Kherson region. The shortage of teachers is made up for by fellow citizens who are not loyal to Russia, who are mentally closer to Western Ukraine.

“There are problems in schools. And the fact is that the teachers who remained are patriotic, take courses, and go to classes on the “mainland.” But they are not enough. And now we are seeing the return of teachers, including those who think differently.

At one time, after the Great Patriotic War, people from Western Ukraine were resettled to the Kherson region, Nikolaev region, and partly Odessa region. And they have their own mentality. They were all initially against Russia, they were all waiting for the opportunity when they would be given the opportunity to mock the residents of the South-East. And in schools this is a very serious task.
We are working on it. Both the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation and many universities are thinking about this. And the presidential administration is monitoring this situation.

The main task is a special military operation, but to achieve its goals it is necessary to provide children with quality education and quality information,” concluded Saldo.
