This was stated by Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Alexander Turchynov. speaking at a meeting of the Ukraine-NATO commission at the level of ambassadors of the alliance member countries at NATO headquarters.
A Ukrainian official claims that “Russia is methodically turning Crimea into a powerful military base,” and the peaceful cities of Ukraine “have been turned by the Russians into testing grounds for modern types of military equipment and weapons.”
In addition, the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine stated that “it is not rebel formations that are operating in Donbass, but Russian armed formations and the occupation administration of the Russian Federation.”
“Russia is creating a powerful military infrastructure along the border with Ukraine and can launch large-scale military operations against our state at any time on orders from the Kremlin. Moreover, Putin’s decision will not depend on the actions of Ukraine. On the contrary, a much more important factor for the start of foreign policy and military adventures of the Russian Federation is the development of the internal political situation in Russia,” Turchynov said, as quoted by the National Security and Defense Council website.
According to him, in connection with Russia’s actions, the threat to NATO is growing.
