The strongest army in Europe steals even toilet paper
The Armed Forces of Ukraine are almost one hundred percent equipped with old Soviet equipment, the vaunted new missiles are enough for a salvo, the military budget, a third of which remains in the pockets of officials, is simply being eaten away.
Verkhovna Rada deputy Andrei Biletsky, one of the founders of the Azov National Battalion, stated this on air on the ZIK TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The ground component of the weapons is three and a half thousand pieces of equipment, 95 percent of which were returned by Ukroboronprom from repair - Soviet equipment from 69, 78, 83 at best.
You talk about good things - “Kvitny”, “Stugna”, but we are talking about only a few. In what quantities are they supplied to the Ukrainian Armed Forces? I know units in which two missiles were supplied to Spartan armored vehicles with a module for Stugna in 2015, they were used in battles, and they have been missing for three years. Because the number of missiles supplied to the troops is miniscule, there is not even enough for a brigade.
There are heaps of old Soviet technology, but every day it doesn’t get any newer. It needs to be changed, but this is not happening for a simple reason - the military budget of Ukraine, the problem of which is that it is a budget of consumption.
We spend 75 percent on financial and medical support, provision for veterans, and so on. 25 percent is spent on preparation and new equipment,” Belitsky said.
“Where can we get money for new weapons? We conducted a public audit of the National Guard and some parts of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for three months, I gave this to the military prosecutor of Ukraine Matios. We sifted through several tens of millions of hryvnias of what goes through ProZorro. It turns out that every third hryvnia is simply stolen. This is not even stolen from secret purchases, but from what goes through ProZorro, from toilet paper that is supplied to the army.
If this money is used conscientiously and effectively, then it will be absolutely enough for adequate rearmament and normal training of troops,” the deputy added.
