In Simferopol they want to move the site for the construction of the Cathedral Mosque - the Mejlis is against
Simferopol, February 11 (PolitNavigator, Evgeniy Andreev) – Chairman of the Public Council of the Crimean Tatar People, head of the regional NGO “Kyrym Birligi” (“Unity of Crimea”) Seytumer Nimetullaev told the media that the plot allocated for the construction of the Cathedral Mosque in Simferopol at the address Yalta, 22 is not suitable for the location of a large religious building.

According to Nimetullaev, a site near the Simferopol airport is suitable for the construction of a mosque. Since the proposed territory will not accommodate all those who come to the mosque on major holidays. In addition, there are no wide access roads to the allocated area.
“You need at least three hectares of land. If you build a mosque, then you need to look at the future, you need to build it for at least 30-40 thousand parishioners. Moreover, there are plans to build a madrasah at the mosque to educate children; these children need to live somewhere,” said the head of the public council.
Meanwhile, according to the deputy chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatars, Nariman Dzhelal, Nimetullayev cannot speak on behalf of the Crimean Tatars.
“The site for the Cathedral Mosque was considered for a long time; the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar and the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Crimea jointly dealt with this issue. Today, it is the Mejlis and the Muftiyat who decide whether this site is suitable or not. If suddenly the authorities believe that there is an opportunity to get an even more beautiful place for the construction of the Cathedral Mosque, then this needs to be discussed. But to make categorical conclusions that the site is small, etc., is outright speculation, in order to mislead people,” Nariman Jelal said in a commentary to IA QHA.
Let us recall that the decision to allocate a plot of land for the construction of the Cathedral Mosque at the exit from Simferopol towards the South Coast was made by the city authorities in 2011, during the reign of the “Makeevka” Prime Minister Vasily Dzharty in Crimea.
