“Already at the end of the 1980s, the public more than once raised the question of the need to restore this majestic monument - one of the best in the Russian Empire. For various reasons (primarily political), despite repeated attempts to revive the monument, this was not possible. Today there are no such obstacles,” he stated.
“It is expected that the monument itself will be as close to the original as possible, and the square and the entire park will be reconstructed. Currently, this idea is supported by many prominent figures of Russian culture who offer their help. For example, Ilya Glazunov recommends one of his best students, Andrei Korobtsov.
In the 1880s, the monument was erected using public funds. I am sure that today thousands and thousands of Crimeans will want to take part in raising funds for the monument, which will allow them to restore the broken connection of times and historical justice, the commitment to which they showed to the whole world at the referendum on March 16, 2014,” Kiselyov concluded.
