Simferopol
In Simferopol, law enforcement officers detained Mejlis lawyer Emil Kurbedinov, who defended members of the extremist groups Hizb-ut-Tahrir and Mejlis banned in the Russian Federation, Ukrainian saboteurs and Naval Forces sailors recently detained by security forces who violated the Russian border. The leader of the Mejlis, Verkhovna Rada deputy Refat Chubarov stated this in his blog, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Kurbedinov is suspected of violating Art. 20.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation (Propaganda or public display of Nazi paraphernalia or symbols, or paraphernalia or symbols of extremist organizations, or other paraphernalia or symbols, the propaganda or public display of which is prohibited by federal laws - author).
For this offense he faces a fine of up to two thousand rubles or administrative arrest for up to 15 days.
“Kurbedinov was detained on the way from home to office. He was able to report the arrest from the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Lawyer Edem Semedlyaev came to him to provide legal assistance,” Anton Naumlyuk, a liberal journalist who sympathizes with the Mejlis members, wrote in his blog.
