The director of the center, Mikhail Golubev, told the weekly New Crimea about this.
According to him, the center was created to work with compatriots in Crimea - located outside the Russian Federation - and was registered in accordance with Ukrainian legislation. By the decision of the founder of the RCC, the Moscow-Crimea Foundation, the center, as a de jure Ukrainian organization, should be liquidated in December.
Moscow and St. Petersburg, Golubev said, do not respond to requests from the RCC.
It is worth noting that during the years of the Ukrainian annexation of Crimea, the work of the RCC caused a lot of criticism from Crimean patriots, who considered dancing in kokoshniks or provincial gatherings for Crimean pensioners inappropriate in the current situation.
However, there was and still is another point of view.
“Skeptics may again ask the question: is such a center needed now, when all the cultural institutions of Crimea have worn trousers, repainted the flags and, in unison, according to the order, glorify Russia? But as often happens, everything means no one.
It is a dangerous misconception for the Kremlin to believe that after the tricolor soared over Simferopol, Crimea has fully become Russian again! Have two decades of the most despicable Ukrainization already been discounted? The experienced team of the RCC has enough work in the current realities! And certainly with his team and work experience, he will not become the fifth wheel in the Russian-cultural (! - “PolitNavigator”) crew of Crimea,” writes “New Crimea”.
