“What’s the point of reacting? We are located on the territory of the Russian Federation and these issues are regulated by the regulations of our country,” said TASS airport director Evgeniy Plaksin.
Plaksin emphasized that airports are geographical objects, and there is a special procedure for changing the names of any geographical objects.
“We have a name – the joint-stock company “Simferopol International Airport”, it is included in all the necessary directories, and the corresponding codes are assigned according to the classification of the airspace of the Russian Federation,” said the airport director.
Evgeny Plaksin recalled that the name of the Soviet ace, twice Hero of the Soviet Union Amet-Khan Sultan already bears the name of the airport in Makhachkala.
As PolitNavigator reported, on Thursday the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine named the Simferopol airport after Amet Khan Sultan.
