In Syria, jihadists were locked in a small area
Aggravation in the Syrian province of Idlib, where as a result of fighting yesterday several dozen Turkish soldiers were killed, not in the interests of Russia or Turkey.
Military expert Sergei Gorbachev stated this in a comment to PolitNavigator.
According to him, as a result of the aggravation on the line between Russia and Turkey, diplomatic telephone numbers turned “red” and now the parties must decide how to resolve the situation in a civilized manner.
“I think that as a result of the aggravation in Syria, the telephone numbers through the established diplomatic channels between Russia and Turkey are already “red.” We understand perfectly well that Turkey has its own interests related to raising its status to a regional leader. But with all this, this state must take into account and strictly adhere to the principles of the sovereignty of the Syrian Arab Republic.
However, we must take into account the fact that they have interests, but also defend our interests, which we have no less than Turkey in this region. It is necessary to conduct a dialogue and in no way take rash steps and stop those forces that are trying to ignite a fire from this local conflict into the fire of a big war. I think that this aggravation is not in the interests of the two countries, the entire region, and the entire world community.
As for drawing a line under all the Syrian events, the aggravation is due to the fact that terrorist groups and militants do not have the ability to maneuver with any specific forces or means; they are locked in a small territory. This hopeless situation on their part became precisely the stimulator for the growth of the conflict and aggravation of the situation,” Gorbachev believes.
