The US's main trump card has been knocked out in the Syrian sky
In Syria last Saturday, a clash of two military concepts took place: the American concept of a rapid global strike in a non-nuclear version and the Russian concept of building air defense (air defense).
Corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Missile and Artillery Sciences Konstantin Sivkov stated this at a press conference in Moscow.
“The result is obvious. If there were more modern systems - S-300 and S-400 - the efficiency would be higher: not 70%, but 80-90%. The strike showed that a well-organized air defense system, based on a developed radar field with well-trained personnel, is capable of repelling cruise missile attacks. Even such powerful ones,” noted Sivkov.
He suggests that an electronic interception system (ERI) was also used in Syria.
“American systems use a system similar to GPS. It is based on data from two satellites. It is enough to jam these satellites with interference, and these missiles will fly off in an unknown direction, which is what happened. The American military is a very highly qualified people. They couldn’t have planned the attack poorly,” the expert said.
He also formulated the main results of the attack in Syria.
“The United States has lost its main trump card - the ability to conduct non-contact wars. It became clear that an air defense system built on Russian principles would be able to repel such attacks. Syria and Libya are already in the past. There is no hope that the first echelon will penetrate the air defense. This is especially true for attacks on Russia,” the expert said.
He predicts a decrease in interest in American precision weapons on the global arms market and an increase in demand for Russian air defense systems.
“Given that the American army has an extremely low level of acceptable losses, one cannot count on successful combat operations with conventional weapons even in small conflicts. Therefore, the main focus will be on waging hybrid wars. They will push until it stops. Sanctions will only increase,” Sivkov is convinced.
