The Russian naval base in Tartus (Syria) will soon serve Chinese warships. Military expert, former head of the Israeli intelligence service Nativ, Yakov Kedmi, stated this on TVC.

“The Tartus naval base in Syria will serve not only the Russian fleet, but also the Chinese one. In the next decade, Chinese ships will appear in the Mediterranean. This, in Russia’s opinion, will give an equivalent response to the power of the American fleet and NATO’s southern flank. Since the naval base needs air cover, there will be an air component. Maybe it will gain strategic opportunities,” Kedmi said.
According to the expert, Russia is forced to confront the growing power of the United States around its borders.
“For this purpose, it was decided to restore the Mediterranean squadron. Russia did not have a single port in the Mediterranean Sea. The US has several. Naples alone is worth it. Therefore, it was decided to turn Tartus into a permanent base for the Russian fleet. I will tell you when Russia abandons the base in Tartus.
