The survey yielded very different results, but the majority of residents of Slavyansk spoke out against the decommunization policy being pursued in the country.
“I’m against it, who does it bother? They are putting the wrong heroes in their place,” “We are forgetting our history, and this is bad. Monuments to Napoleon are not being demolished, although he is far from the best ruler” – these are the most common answers from residents of Slavyansk.
But among the respondents there were also those who believe that decommunization is good, since supposedly the old interferes with living today.
Among the city residents there were those who considered decommunization useless.
“On a global scale, it will not change anything; everything needs to be changed at higher levels. What will change as a result of the demolished monument? You need to put something in its place. This is our story. We must pay tribute to her,” people said.
