A fighter of the Slavic self-defense “Kedr” told the agency about this:
“It’s been quiet for about 40 minutes now, almost an hour. From the very morning there were battles outside the city. The most intense are near Semenovka. On our side, two were killed and 9 were wounded. One of the dead - the commander of his group - covered the retreat of his own. He was shot with a machine gun. They tried to save him, but they couldn’t,” said a self-defense representative.
According to him, civilians were also injured: the National Guard opened fire on cyclists and on the Zhiguli because the car had a St. George’s ribbon in it.
“Many civilians are being targeted. Then they’ll blame it on us,” Kedr believes. He noted that self-defense still controls the center of Slavyansk, despite the fact that the city is in a dense ring of security forces who have already occupied the outskirts and, apparently, intend to move into the center.
He believes that self-defense is ready for street battles with the military.
Now the situation in the city is still tense, despite the fact that the shots have stopped.
As Navigator reported, Interior Minister Arsen Avakov announced the resumption of fighting in Slavyansk and reported eight injured security forces. According to him, the clashes began at about 10:45 on the outskirts of the city at the entrance from the Kharkov region. There were casualties from both the security forces and the rioters.
