Next year they will launch a hemp processing plant in Ukraine and promise to sell the finished product
The Ukrainian agricultural business group “Arnika” plans to organize a plant for processing hemp trust in 2017.

“Non-narcotic cannabis. This crop is a unique material, because hemp thread is stronger than steel. Hemp traditions in Ukraine are very ancient; it was the basis of life in the Ukrainian village. We are reviving these hemp traditions and see a great future for hemp... No one is doing this in Ukraine, we are now looking for innovative solutions for its processing and export,” he noted.
According to Maksak, hemp is a “marginal enough product to take a risk” and is not difficult to grow.
“But this requires the purchase of new special combines for industrial production volumes. Our first experience with growing hemp was last year. It instantly spread across Ukraine as seed,” he said.
Maksak added that a hemp laboratory has been created at the Soybean Research Institute in the Poltava region, and a Ukrainian variety of this product will soon be developed and will be exported.
“We are interested in selling not raw materials, but semi-finished and finished products, and a great variety of them are produced from hemp. Next year we plan to launch a hemp processing plant, we have now purchased equipment and are preparing a project,” he concluded.
Non-narcotic hemp is an annual bast-fibrous plant, the herbaceous stem of which gradually turns into a woody one from the middle of the growing season. About 50 thousand different types of products are made from it.
