In the event of a new provocation off the coast of Crimea, the British ship will be detained
If Great Britain again commits a provocation by entering its ship into Russian territorial waters off the coast of Crimea, then this ship will be detained by Russian border guards.
Russian political scientist Sergei Stankevich stated this in a conversation on the NASH TV channel, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Professionals on the Russian side have, in principle, already decided on how to act in the event of a repetition of such a passage in the territorial waters of Crimea.
If such a passage is repeated, the British ship will be detained, escorted to the port, the appropriate documents will be drawn up for the crew and captain, and, if there is no resistance on their part, then within 48 hours they will be released along with the ship.
This kind of demonstrative action will certainly be carried out. This is a forecast, this is not some kind of recommendation on my part, this is not what I would like to see. This is a forecast,” the expert said.
He recalled that such detentions were carried out, in particular, by Iran.
“Let me remind you that in 2016 Iran arrested two American military ships in this way, escorted them to the port, and then released them. In 2018, Iran seized a tanker carrying American troops. That is, there are enough precedents on this topic. And there is no doubt what will happen if the British suddenly want to repeat this experiment. For some reason, it seems to me that the British will be advised against doing this,” the expert concluded.
