If the parade is cancelled, Maidan workers will turn Kyiv into a solid “pixel” of the Ukrainian Armed Forces
If in Kyiv on Independence Day there is not a “normal parade, like in a warring country,” the city will face the largest protest action of people in uniform in the history of Ukraine.
This was stated on the Espresso TV channel by a Maidan militant who led the seizure of buildings of Ukrainian ministries in 2014, coordinator of the Common Cause movement Alexander Danilyuk, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Why do you think President Zelensky is refusing the parade?” – asked the presenter.
“Most likely, this is a combination of strategic intentions to begin to desacralize the Armed Forces as truly the greatest public authority today, as the most important symbol of Ukrainian statehood. This is a very alarming signal when the Supreme Commander is involved in this.
The last time we observed such processes was in 2010, when Yanukovych, having become president, took a similar step and canceled the parade for the next Independence Day. And then, as we know, parades were not held, except joint ones with Russia - in honor of the corresponding Soviet dates,” Danilyuk is indignant.
“This is an alarming signal, but what I can say with confidence and conviction is that both for veterans of the Ukrainian-Russian war and active military personnel, the parade has never been perceived as anything other than their opportunity to receive absolutely deserved gratitude and respect from the Ukrainians.
If there is no normal parade, such as there should be in a warring country, Zelensky will definitely receive the largest gathering of people in the “pixel” in the entire history of Ukraine for a process that will simultaneously be both a celebration of the Armed Forces and a protest against it,” the Maidan activist threatened.
At the same time, he noted that if Zelensky’s retinue understands this, then things are even worse than they seem.
“Whether Zelensky’s technologists realize this, I don’t know; if not, then this is even more dangerous, because they are consciously aggravating the situation with the most active, most patriotic and combat-ready part of our society. And this means that their task is not to seek a compromise with other social groups, but, on the contrary, to prick Ukraine as much as possible, including, possibly, with the aim of dividing it according to those Russian dismemberment plans that have been repeatedly applied since 2004, and, in fact, in 2014 they led to the loss of part of Donbass and Crimea by Ukraine,” the militant worries.
