The Federation Council warned Moldovans about the consequences
The Federation Council of the Russian Federation is considering the legal, legal and political consequences of the decision of the Constitutional Court of Moldova to recognize the 1989 Moldovan law on the functioning of languages in the country as obsolete. This verdict deprives the Russian language of its status as a language of interethnic communication.
This was stated today at a meeting of the International Affairs Committee of the Federation Council by its Chairman Konstantin Kosachev.
“Perhaps we will propose that the Federation Council somehow respond to this situation. The decision is obviously alarming. So far it does not have direct effect, and the law itself continues to remain in force until some additional decisions are made by the parliament of the republic,” Kosachev said.
He recalled that participants in the international Livadia Forum, held in Crimea on June 5-6, adopted a statement in which they expressed disagreement and alarm in connection with the decision of the constitutional court in Moldova.
