The Federation Council found a CIS country where Russian universities and theaters are opening
Russia and Turkmenistan are connected by “deep history, common civilizational roots and worldviews, traditions, customs based on the ideals of peace, goodness and justice.”
Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov stated this today, speaking at the Federation Council of the Russian Federation, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I would like to especially emphasize the highly respectful attitude towards the Russian language, literature, cultural and spiritual values of the Russian people in Turkmenistan. Today there are dozens of schools teaching in Russian in the country, and there is a unique Turkmen-Russian school named after Pushkin. The Russian language is taught in all secondary educational institutions and universities. We are working on the design and construction of the Russian Drama Theater in Ashgabat. We are discussing issues related to the creation of a Turkmen-Russian university,” Berdimuhamedov said.
He thanked Russia for preserving the memory of the great Turkmen philosopher Magtymguly Fragi in monuments and street names and expressed hope for inter-parliamentary interaction on the cultural and humanitarian track.
Thank you!
