The Federation Council proposed introducing a new national currency
Russia needs to introduce a new currency – the energy ruble or altyn.
Senator Yevgeny Savchenko stated this today in the Federation Council of the Russian Federation, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The global financial system, based on paper, unbacked currencies, as well as capitalism as a whole, have exhausted themselves. The global world today is drifting towards digital and ephemeral currency. We need to avoid this fate and decide to introduce a new monetary unit, backed by the hardest equivalent - the cost of one kilowatt hour. That is, introduce the energy ruble.
To begin with, this currency can be introduced for settlements between the countries of the EAEU, and then the scope of its application can be expanded. The Energoruble can be called by the old Russian word - altyn. It will become the most attractive currency in the world,” Savchenko said.
He believes that such a measure will allow Russia to develop sustainably.
“Today we need to talk not so much about stabilization, but about sustainable economic growth, or, if you like, an economic breakthrough. This is possible if the country consistently frees itself from the rules of the Washington consensus and its apologists,” Savchenko concluded.
