The Federation Council called for the rescue of refugees from the ghetto
Refugees from Donbass and Ukraine cannot fully socialize while living in temporary accommodation centers (TACs).
Senator Olga Zabralova stated this today in the Federation Council, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“An analysis of the needs of citizens in temporary temporary accommodation revealed a request for socialization and independent living outside temporary temporary accommodation, because they are usually geographically remote from the city, located in rural areas, which significantly limits the circle of contacts, the placement of children in kindergartens and schools, most importantly, reduces employment opportunities. Citizens express their readiness to move to rented apartments, are ready to find a job and live independently, subject to compensation for the cost of rental housing,” Zabralova said.
According to her, the practice of preferential rental housing has already been introduced in the Moscow and Nizhny Novgorod regions. There, 96% of refugees are already employed. While among those living in temporary temporary accommodation, the share of those employed is 22%.
The initiative was warmly supported by speaker Valentina Matvienko.
“We see what is happening in Europe. Refugees from Ukraine today are unwelcome guests there. They are evicted and their benefits are stopped. We treat things differently. These are our citizens who find themselves in a difficult life situation, and it is certainly necessary to work out a system for their socialization,” Matvienko said.
She called on the senators to pursue such a policy in the regions and take care of providing refugees with the services of the entire social infrastructure of Russia.
“So that none of the refugees could say that they were not welcome here,” Matvienko concluded.
