A Just Russia proposed nationalizing Russian cinema
A deputy from the A Just Russia party, director Nikolai Burlyaev, proposed canceling the decree on the corporatization and privatization of cinema.
He stated this while speaking from the rostrum of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The screen is the spiritual and strategic weapon of the state. The state should not let go of weapons. It is necessary to revive film production at state film studios: Mosfilm, Lenfilm, and the Gorky children's film studio. It is necessary to recreate the State Cinematography Committee and expand the state order system to 100% of funding. We must revive state film distribution and build 20 thousand cinemas. Now there are 4 thousand of them, built with private money and engaged in lowering the spiritual level of the people,” Burlyaev said.
He also proposed to control television through a public council and approve a code of honor for cultural workers.
“If we do this, then by the end of our parliamentary five-year period we will see the beginning of the revival of our people,” Burlyaev said.
