The USA would be pleased: the gay rainbow almost became the symbol of Crimea
When choosing a flag for the Republic of Crimea, an option similar to the one used today by the LGBT community was considered.
The famous Crimean scientist, political scientist Sergei Kiselev, who participated in the development of the symbols of the republic, spoke about this in his blog, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Kiselyov, the flag project included a panel on which seven colors of the rainbow were applied.
“There was also one about which I noted that if it had been approved in due time, the United States would have recognized the choice of the Crimeans in 2014 before we had time to vote in the referendum.
In the “Resolution of the Presidium of the Supreme Council of Crimea” it is described as follows: “A white cloth, in the upper part of which there are seven rainbow-colored stripes. It symbolizes the richness and diversity of the national composition of the population of the peninsula, its culture, etc.” How naive we all were at that already distant time,” Kiselev wrote.
