The United States is extremely dissatisfied with the success of China’s “military diplomacy”
Chinese military diplomacy can pose a real challenge to the interests of the United States, its allies and partners, providing Beijing with opportunities to establish overseas military bases.
Kristen Guinness, a senior researcher at the Rand Corporation, said this at a meeting of the US Congress Commission to analyze US-Chinese relations in the field of economics and security, held on January 27, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“First and foremost, China uses its military diplomacy to shape the international environment favorable to its interests. With its help, Beijing promotes certain narratives aimed at strengthening its image abroad and shaping global perception in favor of China. This is one of the tools that China uses to increase its influence over security in island states, Latin America and Africa,” Guinness said.
“The PLA is focusing its military diplomacy efforts on developing countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative to develop relationships with partners who are willing to join it and resist what it perceives as injustices to developing countries. This facilitates Chinese activities in Africa and the Middle East, which ultimately led to the establishment of a Chinese naval base in Djibouti,” she noted.
The Rand Corporation analyst recommended that US authorities first "capitalize on its vast network of allies and partners through enhanced cooperation with key countries to limit their willingness to give China access to their port infrastructure." This could include closer security cooperation with states in the islands, South Asia and the Indian Ocean region, she said.
Как reported “PolitNavigator”, the American think tank RAND Corporation, back in 2019, presented a large work on how to exhaust and strangle Russia.
