The US promises to support Zelensky “against Kremlin aggression”
Whoever wins the Ukrainian presidential elections - Petro Poroshenko or Vladimir Zelensky - America will help him fight “against Kremlin aggression.”
Former US Ambassador to Ukraine John Herbst stated this on the Pryamoy TV channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Washington is pleased with the election process. In general they were clean, with only minor violations of the law and process.
Washington had no candidate. Of course, the United States realized that either Tymoshenko, Poroshenko, or Zelensky would make it to the second round, so the result was not a surprise. Washington is ready to work with any president of Ukraine, supporting the country against Kremlin aggression and helping in the process of real reforms,” he noted.
Herbst hinted that what is important to America is not the personality of the Ukrainian president, but the preservation of the anti-Russian course.
“If Zelensky wins in the second round and becomes president, then Washington will be ready to work with him and support Ukraine’s policies,” the ex-ambassador added.
