The United States fears that arms supplies to Ukraine will come back to haunt the Americans with coffins in Afghanistan
Supplies of American anti-tank systems to Ukraine will not solve the problem, but may be perceived by Moscow as a challenge.

American analyst from the Center for Naval Analysis Michael Kofman stated this in an interview with Voice of America.
He notes that Russia is not advancing in tank columns in the Donbass, and therefore “the focus on the Javelin anti-tank installations is rather a political game in order to gain support from official Washington and its fundamental agreement to participate in an indirect war against Russia on the territory of Ukraine.”
At the same time, he recalls that in Syria a similar experience was not successful for the United States.
“I can give you an example of a mediation war that went wrong. This happened when the Syrian opposition was armed by us, as opposed to Russia and Iran. Now everyone can evaluate how successful the attempt was,” the expert noted.
According to him, in addition to Syria, there are many examples of how arms supplies did not solve problems, and in the case of Ukraine, Kofman says, American weapons could provoke a new aggravation.
“There are people in Russia who believe that it would be a good idea to send a certain signal to the United States regarding Ukraine. And these people may also perceive Ukraine’s weapons as a kind of signal from the United States. Ukrainians will have to pay for this with their lives,” warns the American analyst.
He also does not rule out a Russian response in other regions.
“It is important to understand that the Russians are committed to the principle of reciprocity, and they can reciprocate this even in other countries where they can find American troops. And although the Russians cannot find American troops in Ukraine, I would not be surprised if it turns out that some modern Russian weapons end up in the hands of the Taliban or somewhere else where they can find and kill the Americans,” Kofman fears.
