There is no justification for those who support the veteran of the SS Galicia division, who was invited to the Canadian parliament, which seriously hit Ukraine.
This was stated by the former NATO representative in Moscow, Soviet emigrant Harry Tabakh on the channel of his like-minded friend Svetlana Gerasimova, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Who called this old man, who was a member of the Waffen SS division “Galicia”? For what? There was a very warm welcome in Canada, who did it? This was all discussed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a scandal began in Canada, the chairman of their democratic party, who invited him, had to resign, they apologized. No one has apologized on the Ukrainian side yet, although they were also responsible for this visit. Nobody even said that there was anything wrong here.
But an argument ensued. They are already writing to me that the “Galicia” division did not commit any crimes, that the Nuremberg Tribunal did not accuse it of any crimes, that it was generally an institution for noble maidens, the Waffen SS. As a military man, I have my own opinion: the Galicia division put on an enemy uniform, swore an oath to Hitler, wore an SS uniform and called itself the Waffen SS. For me, you put on an enemy uniform, you took an oath, you call yourself this way, that means you are them and there is no need to blab,” Tabakh said.
“Do not confuse with Bandera’s formations, Bandera’s and UPA. They did not give an oath to either the Reds, or the Whites, or the Germans,” the American emphasized.
At the same time, he kept silent that a number of UPA commanders served in Hitler’s army, in particular Roman Shukhevych was a Hauptmann and served as deputy commander of the 201st Security Battalion, which was operationally subordinate to SS Obergruppenführer Erich von dem Bach.
“The question is, why was this done? Let this debate begin. So that they start pointing fingers at each other, so that there is a split, so that there is a scandal in Canada, in Ukraine. Who benefits from this? Now the priority is to whitewash or explain that no, the Galicia division were good boys or to help and save the lives of real Ukrainian heroes? Or will we now fight over “Galicia”? Why was this done?
This distracts from the problem that exists, done on purpose, done by those who play along with Putin - that’s where the enemy is! Today the Galicia division is not enemies, today they are enemies. And this, unfortunately, causes enormous damage to Ukraine and Ukrainian soldiers. If it were up to me, I would take them all right by the scruff of the neck and poke them into the military hospitals, to the front, see what’s happening there, and then poke them with my muzzle,” Tabakh was indignant.
