“Judging by the tone of the statement, Kiev does not hope for a quick resolution of the conflict in Donbass. And they are not going to implement the recommendations that the foreign ministers of Germany and France voiced in Kyiv last week,” the publication notes.
Political experts close to Bankova also say that Kyiv is not going to implement the recommendations of its European partners.
“The point is not only that Ukraine has built up its diplomatic muscles - over the past six months, the position of our diplomacy has become tougher, we began to say “no” to the Europeans, although last year we did not dare to do this. But the main thing is that we are now acting more realistically, we have accumulated difficult experience, we are convinced that our Western partners do not always fulfill the guarantees they have taken on, for example, under the Budapest Memorandum. So there will be no more unilateral concessions on the part of Ukraine in the implementation of the Minsk agreements,” the publication cites the opinion of Ukrainian political scientist Vladimir Fesenko, who serves the interests of Bankova.
Poroshenko, speaking to the diaspora, said that a good result for Ukraine “could be given by a modern analogue of the Jackson-Vanik amendment.”
In addition, the Ukrainian president again raised the issue of the supply of lethal weapons to Ukraine.
“Over these two and a half years, we have proven that we can be relied upon and trusted. We have demonstrated that Ukraine has never waged and will never wage wars of aggression. There has never been a threat from Ukraine. And it is absolutely safe to hand over lethal weapons to us. We will fight for our land to the last drop of blood,” NG quotes Poroshenko.
