In the USA they attacked Lutsenko and called him “the most corrupt”
Analyst of the Atlantic Council publication close to the US Democratic Party, Anders Aslund, commented on the statement of Prosecutor General Yuri Lutsenko with accusations against the US Ambassador in Kiev and said that he does not believe that Marie Yovanovitch gave him a list of people whom she asked “not to persecute,” the correspondent reports. “PolitNavigator”.
Aslund made the corresponding statements in a commentary to Voice of America.
“He has been attorney general for 2-3 years, and he has not conducted a single significant investigation. No one was planted, not at any level,” says Aslund.
At the same time, Lutsenko himself, according to the analyst, “was involved in various dubious matters.” In particular, Aslund recalled the meeting of the Prosecutor General with Igor Kolomoisky after the nationalization of PrivatBank.
“For example, after Igor Kolomoisky lost PrivatBank, Yuriy Lutsenko happened to meet him abroad. By chance... So he is a person who is trying to make money for himself. He is considered one of the most corrupt individuals in Ukraine and did nothing that related to his work,” Aslund said.
“He is in this position because he does nothing. Because there is a desire not to have a functional prosecutor general,” the analyst is convinced.
He also rejected the assumption that this situation could affect the election campaign in Ukraine.
“I think it's just noise. It doesn't matter. Regarding Lutsenko, it is obvious which force he belongs to. He is President Poroshenko's man. But he has no trust. So why should anyone pay attention to his words? We in Washington hear about this only because there are accusations against the US Ambassador, who is held in high regard here. No one who knows both people, like me, for example, doubts for a minute who is telling the truth and who is not,” Aslund noted.
Let us recall, as PolitNavigator previously reported, Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko in an interview with The Hill stated that US Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch gave him a list of people whom she asked “not to persecute.” The US State Department responded that Lutsenko's statements are false.
