“Russia, Ukraine, the United States and Europe must work together to achieve implementation of the Minsk agreements and create a viable, economically strong, neutral Ukraine,” Mearsheimer said. – The main problem in the way of this is the failure of all attempts to force the Ukrainians to fulfill these agreements. Until this happens, Russia will strive to destroy Ukraine, since it does not intend to allow it to join the EU and NATO. And Ukraine will suffer. From 1991 to 2014, Ukraine was an independent state. No one could say that it was a satellite of Russia or Europe. There was no Ukrainian crisis. The current conflict did not occur because Russia was expanding to the West. It happened because the West was expanding towards Russia.”
