The US intends to drag both Kosovo and Serbia into NATO separately.
The problem of recognition of separatist Kosovo can be solved by accepting it into NATO.
Edward Joseph, a senior fellow at the Johns Hopkins University SAIS, which is undesirable in Russia, stated this at a hearing of the US House of Representatives Committee on Foreign Affairs, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

"There is a solution to this problem, and that is NATO. Only joining NATO will end the standoff, because then Serbia will have no choice but to recognize Kosovo. And the non-recognition campaign, its dependence on Russia and China in the UN Security Council, will be pointless, because NATO membership is far more important for Kosovo than UN membership," Joseph reasoned.
He also did not rule out Serbia's imminent entry into NATO.
"As for how far Serbia is from joining NATO, I think it could happen sooner, depending on US policy and our approach. The latest poll showed that Serbs are split roughly evenly. Half of the Serbian population has a positive view of NATO, and the other half has a negative one. I think we're close," Joseph wrote.
