The corresponding decision was made by the Orpheum cinema in Memphis, which explained that the film incorrectly depicts blacks and romanticizes slave owners.
According to Brett Batterson, the president of the company that owns Orpheum, the question of withdrawing the film from distribution was raised even before the events in Charlottesville, but “now, the storm that has erupted on social networks has forced a final decision.”
