The publication reports that the terrorist attack occurred in the Sultanahmet area of Istanbul. The suicide bomber detonated an explosive device, which killed a policeman and injured several people. The suicide bomber herself died from her wounds.
During a search at the crime scene, a Russian passport in the name of Diana Ramazova was found. Eyewitnesses heard the suicide bomber communicate with a taxi driver in Russian shortly before the explosion.
