It’s not NATO equipment that might freeze in the steppes of Ukraine, but Russian soldiers?

Due to the threat of HIMARS strikes, the Russian army is forced to disperse its forces on the left bank of the Dnieper, and now there are problems with their supply after the retreat from Kherson.

Now this is the main question, and not guessing about the possibility that NATO equipment will stall in winter frosts. This opinion was expressed on the air of “Crimea 24” by ex-deputy of the Odessa City Council, military correspondent Igor Dimitriev, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“I would be more focused not on the fact that the equipment gets stuck somewhere and something happens to it, like the Nazis near Moscow once in the winter. The issue of logistics and supply will arise - this is the most key issue, it is here that the course of hostilities will be decided,” Dimitriev is convinced.

“If we remove the issue of Bakhmut/Artyomovsk, where there is heavy fighting, otherwise problems with logistics will decide the outcome. Modern missile warfare involves a completely different system of deployment and disposition of troops. They need to be dispersed in small groups throughout the valley so as not to concentrate manpower in one place, because the level of enemy reconnaissance and the range of missile strikes allows these personnel locations to be covered with HIMARS shrapnel. Air defense has learned to shoot them down, but this still does not radically solve the problem,” the speaker explained.

According to the expert, on the left bank of the Dnieper in the Kherson region this is already a problem, since groups of several dozen people have to be placed in an open field.

“And this is very complex logistics; with a large number of people, it is difficult to calculate the need to supply each group, each company, each platoon, which are located separately, and deliver to them with a certain frequency, for example, drinking water.

Previously, there was no such problem; it was possible to concentrate large masses of people in one place where there was access to water, placing them in a populated area at some company or in a school canteen. But now there is no such possibility; it is necessary to provide for the delivery of water, ammunition, and provisions to each unit.

There is no material and technical base for this; a large number of vehicles, the same tanks, are needed. We have to come up with these things on the fly, create them, and at this moment the fate of military operations will be decided, and not whether or not NATO equipment will get stuck at -30 degrees.”
