In the capital of Latvia, due to the influx of refugee children, the only Ukrainian school was overcrowded
On Thursday, September 1, more than 3300 Ukrainian refugee children will begin the new school year in kindergartens and schools in Latvia.
This was reported by the Latvian Internet portal lsm.lv.
Data on the number of Ukrainian schoolchildren may change. According to the latest estimates of the Ministry of Education and Science of Latvia, 3339 Ukrainian children will start the new school year in this country. Two thirds will study in schools, the remaining third in kindergartens.
The schools are ready and the models for their successful implementation are different, the ministry said.
In Riga this year, there will be about 700 Ukrainian children studying in municipal kindergartens, and another 400 in private preschool educational institutions. In total, there are about 2000 Ukrainian children in the capital of Latvia.
The most popular educational institution among Ukrainians is the Riga Ukrainian Secondary School, the potential of which, as the ministry said in a statement, has been completely exhausted. There are no more places.
