The Bora missile ship returns to service in the Black Sea Fleet
In the near future, after repairs, the small hovercraft "Bora" will return to service in the Black Sea Fleet. Now it is located at the berth of the 13th ship repair plant of the Black Sea Fleet, but mooring tests of the ship will begin next week.
Military expert, reserve captain XNUMXst rank Sergei Gorbachev reported this to PolitNavigator.
According to him, the ship “Bora” belongs to project 1239 “Sivuch”; the Black Sea Fleet includes only one of its brothers, “Samum”. Gorbachev notes that the ship, built in the late 80s, was considered promising due to its armament and catamaran-like design, which improves its speed. At the same time, today the fleet needs at least one more such combat unit.
“In general, this ship project was considered very promising, including because of the strike complex that is located on board... The weapons are supersonic missiles flying over the water surface and, in general, it is quite difficult to hit them with missile defense systems.
Of course, I would like to see more ships of this type in the fleet. And if we talk about quantity, the principle is very simple: in order for the fleet to constantly have some kind of ship, in this case an attack version, there must be at least three ships of this type. One ship is in the first line and performs tasks away from the base, including in combat service, the second is engaged in combat training, and the third is undergoing repair work to one degree or another,” Gorbachev said.
