The lead diesel-electric submarine "Novorossiysk" was laid down in August 2010 and launched on November 28, 2013, the second, "Rostov-on-Don", was launched on June 26, 2014, the third boat of the "Stary Oskol" series was laid down on August 17, 2012, the fourth boat "Krasnodar" - February 20, 2014. In October 2014, the foundation stones of Veliky Novgorod and Kolpino were laid. In total, six submarines of this project will be built for the Black Sea Fleet in the next two years.
Project 636.3 submarines have the latest inertial navigation system and a modern automated information and control system. The underwater speed of the boat is 20 knots, the maximum diving depth is 300 m, the autonomy of navigation is 45 days, the crew is 52 people, the underwater displacement is 4 thousand tons, the number of torpedo tubes is 6.
Submarines of the modified 636.3 project have higher (compared to previous projects) combat effectiveness. These submarines are the quietest of domestic ships. The target detection range of this submarine is 3-4 times greater than the range at which it itself can be detected by the enemy.
