“Today at three o’clock in the morning, patrol police officers who were serving on Voskresenskaya Street heard an explosion. Arriving at the scene, they saw a fire on the first floor of the house where the office of the Sumy branch of one of the political parties was located. The fire engulfed the entire room. To prevent loss of life and the spread of fire to the apartments of Sumy residents, which were located on the second floor, law enforcement officers called firefighters and organized the evacuation of the residents of the house,” the report says.
The department noted that the heads of the regional Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Department of Internal Affairs, the State Service for Emergency Situations, the prosecutor's office, explosives experts and experts went to the scene of the incident to clarify the circumstances.
According to updated data, the explosion occurred in the office of the Svoboda party.
