When Archbishop Eulogius was leaving the church, nationalists, shouting threats and offensive slogans, rushed towards him, but were stopped and pushed back by believers, who provided the bishop with passage to the residence.
It is interesting that the actions of the nationalists were monitored by Deputy Mayor Stepan Pak, who was on the spot, seemingly on the sidelines. The attack was coordinated by Svoboda member Vladimir Ganzin. Among the ordinary attackers were teenagers and young people in camouflage with stripes with the black and red flag of the UPA.
The archbishop tried to contact law enforcement officers with a demand to intervene in the situation, but neither the police nor the SBU responded to the clergyman’s calls.
