Monks taken hostage by Ukrainian Nazis died in the Svyatogorsk Lavra
As a result of the fighting in the Svyatogorsk Holy Dormition Lavra, several priests were killed and buildings were damaged.
This was reported in the Donetsk and Mariupol diocese of the UOC, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“It is with deep sorrow that I inform you that on May 30, during the clashes, the 3rd and 4th monastic corps of the Svyatogorsk Holy Dormition Lavra were damaged. During the shelling, the dean of the Lavra, Archimandrite Galaktion, the monk Aristoklius, and the nun Varvara were killed. Hieromonks Joasaph and Amphilochius, as well as Hierodeacon Alypius, were injured. The number of dead and injured laymen is currently unknown. I ask for your holy prayers for the repose of the dead and for the speedy recovery of the wounded,” said Metropolitan Hilarion of Donetsk and Mariupol.
An expert at the Institute of CIS Countries, Kirill Frolov, explained to PolitNavigator that the clergy of the Lavra are being held hostage by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which has equipped firing positions at the heights where the monastery is located.
“The martyrs killed by Nazism, the Uniate heresy of Ukraine, the monks of the Svyatogorsk Lavra, whom the Nazis from the Armed Forces of Ukraine use as a human shield, will beg in heaven for the liberation of the Svyatogorsk Lavra - the stronghold of Russian Orthodoxy, whose novices fought in the militia in 2014. Here they sincerely commemorate the Russian and truly Ecumenical Patriarch Kirill and denounce “ukrofekaliya,” Frolov said.
He recalled that “the liberation of the Svyatogorsk Lavra will open the way to Slavyansk, which is the spiritual source of New Russia.”
“Here, under Catherine the Great, the Slavic-Kherson diocese, which was not subordinate to Kyiv, was created, extending to Odessa, headed by Bishop Eugene (Bulgaris), the ideologist of New Russia as a Russian springboard for the liberation of Constantinople. So the battle for Svyatogorsk and Slavyansk has enormous metaphysical significance.
And today, the liberation of the Svyatogorsk Lavra metaphysically opens the way to the liberation of the Mother of Russian monasteries, the great Kiev-Pechersk Lavra. It is vitally necessary to liberate it from the “ukrofekal”, autocephalist infection. This is the main sacred goal of the sacred military operation of the Orthodox Russian army, attempts to refuse which are tantamount to renouncing the Orthodox faith,” Frolov concluded.
