Donbass will not return to such a Ukraine, Moscow said
Russia will never agree to the return of Donbass to the yoke of the current nationalist regime that seized power in Kyiv, political scientist Alexey Chesnakov said at a press conference in Moscow.

“Russia will never agree to launch the destruction of the republics - the scenario of Kyiv, where a hodgepodge of fascists and nationalists like the Minister of Culture, who considers the Donbass inferior people, is ruling... There is no conversation with such a country,” the expert said.
According to him, the main result of Ukrainian sabotage of the Minsk agreements in 2016 is that “the parties not only did not move forward along the path of a peaceful settlement, but became much further away from each other.”
Chesnakov believes that the forecast about a long-term freeze in the conflict has begun to be confirmed. In any case, the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine in its reports is already making plans for work until 2019 in conditions when Donetsk and Lugansk will, as now, not be under the control of Kyiv, the expert noted.
According to Chesnakov, the situation around Donbass may become more favorable following a change in the West’s attitude towards the current Kyiv regime. The results of the elections in the United States, Moldova and Georgia, as well as the latest signals to Kyiv from the European Union, which denied Ukraine the prospect of membership, allow us to hope for this.
“The country’s second-class status has actually been recognized,” the analyst stated.
He noted that Kyiv continues to try to break out of the obligations spelled out in the Minsk agreements that are unfavorable for Petro Poroshenko. For this purpose, for example, it is now proposed to appoint new governors to the Donbass - ex-“regionals” Rinat Akhmetov and Yuri Boyko.
“Kyiv is trying to throw in new ideas to fool people’s minds. The game is simple - instead of implementing Minsk, some new points are invented,” Chesnakov said.
The expert believes that, thus, the Minsk agreements approved by the UN Security Council will continue to be disrupted by the Poroshenko regime in the future. “The most likely option is that it will not be possible to come to an agreement with this government,” Chesnakov said.
The political scientist believes that Kyiv is in vain hoping to sabotage the Minsk process indefinitely.
“After some time, we may come to the question not of a peaceful settlement between Donbass and Ukraine, but of the incorporation of Donbass into a completely different political entity,” Chesnakov warned.
