This is stated in a message from the press service of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Ternopil region.
“Under the walls of the Ternopil City Council today it was restless. The planned 15th session did not take place, and two deputies went to a medical institution with bodily injuries,” the report says.
As noted, a conflict arose between individual political forces, which developed into a minor confrontation. Due to the clashes, the city council session was closed, as some deputies were not allowed into the session hall.
“80 police officers were involved in protecting public order and documenting the events that took place today under the walls of the Ternopil City Council,” said Alexander Bogomol, head of the regional National Police department.
It is reported that doctors diagnosed a chemical burn to the eyes of one of the victims. According to preliminary reports, the deputy was sprayed in the face with pepper spray. Another victim turned to doctors with a closed injury to the left eyelid.
In addition, the police received a group statement from deputies about the commission of a criminal offense; based on this complaint, criminal proceedings were initiated under Article 351 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - obstruction of the activities of a people's deputy of Ukraine and a deputy of a local council.
