About it reports the press service of the regional prosecutor's office, “PolitNavigator” correspondent reports.
“It has been established that representatives of the Zaporozhye diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate allow a selective approach to the implementation of religious rites, preferring those persons who underwent baptismal rites in the UOC MP, thereby offending the feelings of citizens in connection with their religious beliefs,” the report says.
It is noted that some representatives of these religious organizations have recently made statements about the unity of the Slavic Orthodox peoples under the spiritual mentorship of the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC).
“Information is being disseminated among church parishioners about the need to unite Ukraine with Russia and the European direction of development of our state is condemned, the anti-terrorist operation is condemned, and the aggressive actions of the Russian Federation towards Ukraine are justified,” the prosecutor’s office said.
The prosecutor’s office also notes that these persons condemn the communication of church representatives in Ukrainian, thereby “humiliating the national honor of the citizens of Ukraine.”
According to the prosecutor's office, such actions are considered deliberate and aimed at inciting national, religious enmity and hatred, as well as insulting the feelings of citizens in connection with their religious beliefs. The pre-trial investigation is currently ongoing. Considering the resonance of the event, the investigation into this criminal proceeding was entrusted to the investigative department of the Directorate of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Zaporozhye region.
Let us remind you that nationalists began a campaign of persecution of the UOC after an incident that was hyped in the press related to the refusal of a UOC priest, motivated by church rules, to perform the funeral service for a child who was baptized in the non-canonical Kiev Patriarchate. Earlier on December 31, in Zaporozhye, a suicide intoxicated jumped out of a window and fell on a little boy. The child died.
