According to him, he was always against court hearings in absentia, but now the situation has changed: many representatives of the previous government fled from Ukraine.
“If the accused wants to take part in a Skype conference, please do so. Please say something in your own defense,” he said, answering a question from journalists at a press conference.
However, he believes that some people should be acquitted. “These are fighters from Berkut and internal troops, after which they went to the ATO zone and washed away their guilt with blood. They must be protected. Maybe someone won’t like it, but this is my principled position,” Poroshenko explained.
