In Ukraine there is not enough money even for songs: Eurovision had to be abandoned
Kyiv, September 19 (PolitNavigator, Victoria Litovchenko) – The National Television Company of Ukraine, in a bilateral agreement with the European Broadcasting Union, decided to refuse to participate in the Eurovision 2015 song contest for a year.

The NTKU press service stated that the television company was forced to take such a step due to the difficult situation in the country.
“The unstable financial and political situation, military aggression from the east, annexation of Ukrainian territories - all these processes force NTU to focus on the main thing: the speedy construction of public broadcasting in Ukraine. In this regard, it is necessary to carefully optimize any costs,” the press service notes.
“We understand that Eurovision is an image project, prestige. But we don't have the right to do anything bad. And we simply don’t have money for “good”. If anyone wants to help us, we will be only too happy, but I’m afraid we won’t be able to pull off such a project on our own. Therefore, such a decision was made,” said NTKU General Director Zurab Alasania.
NTU expressed hope that Ukraine will not take part in the competition for only one year. And already in 2016 he will send his representative again.
At the same time, the television company noted that negotiations are currently underway with the EBU regarding the broadcast of the semi-finals and final of the competition. Therefore, Ukrainian viewers will be able to see the broadcast of the competition, which will take place in May 2015 in the capital of Austria, Vienna.
