According to the conclusions of the “expert commission at Goskino, these films are recognized as prohibited for television showing, public commercial video, and home video on the territory of Ukraine.”
“I realize that these films are not currently in wide release, and certainly were not successful there in the past, but depriving these films of distribution certificates has an important symbolic character. After all, they are the most odious examples of modern Russian propaganda, directed not only against the Ukrainian people, but also against others, in particular the Georgian (“August Eighth”),” said the head of Goskino, Philipp Ilyenko.
Let us remember that both films were released in 2012. “Match” - a film by Andrei Malyukov with Sergei Bezrukov in the title role, tells about a football match between Soviet football players and the Luftwaffe anti-aircraft gunners team in occupied Kyiv in the summer of 1942. "August. Eighth" is a film by Janik Fayziev about the conflict in South Ossetia in August 2008.
As PolitNavigator reported, Goskino previously banned the broadcast of nine Russian films in the country and TV series.
