This was announced by the First Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of Ukraine Vitaly Kovalchuk, commenting on the laws “On the Fundamentals of State Regional Policy” and “On the Voluntary Association of Territorial Communities” adopted and signed by the President.
In particular, the law introduces the institution of elders. The headman is elected in villages and towns by decision of the local council for the term of her office and represents the interests of village residents in the executive body of the local council of the united territorial community.
He also participates in the preparation of the budget of the territorial community insofar as it concerns the financing of programs in the territory of the corresponding village.
