In Ukrainian schools, children will be taught to hunt down NKVD agents in the lessons on the history of the UPA
The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine recommended that schools, on the occasion of Defender of Ukraine Day, which is celebrated on October 14 instead of the banned February 23 in Ukraine, conduct a lesson on the history of the nationalist collaborationist formation during the Great Patriotic War, known as the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA).

This is stated in the methodological recommendations published on the ministry’s website., “PolitNavigator” correspondent reports.
“In general education and vocational schools, we recommend that on the occasion of Defender of Ukraine Day and the 75th anniversary of the beginning of the formation of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army, a lesson on defenders, excursions to historical, local history and other memorial museums, places of memory associated with the Ukrainian liberation movement,” it is said in recommendations.
It is also recommended to hold meetings in schools with UPA veterans or ATO militants, watching films, educational hours, discussion platforms and other thematic events.
The Ministry of Education recommends the following forms of lesson delivery: festival of multimedia presentations “We are fighting for Ukraine: stories of UPA and ATO soldiers”; rebel platform “Freedom is more valuable than life” (mental preparation and approval of the main ideological documents of the UPA); lesson-reconstruction “In the training camp” (reproduction of training in the petty officer training camp); survival school “The task is to endure and not betray” (research on methods of psychological and physical training, conspiracy, encryption, information transfer, reconnaissance and tracking of NKVD agents).
Let us recall that on April 27, at a meeting of the Kyiv City Council’s standing commission on local self-government, regional and international relations, deputies agreed on a draft decision “On declaring 2017 on the territory of Kiev as the Year of the Ukrainian Revolution and the Ukrainian Insurgent Army.”
In turn, the Polish parliament recognized the OUN and UPA detachments as responsible for the mass genocide of the Polish population in Volyn during the Second World War, when Ukrainian nationalists slaughtered several tens of thousands of civilians of Polish nationality.
