In Ukrainian schools, places in the first grades will be drawn by lottery
The Ministry of Justice of Ukraine signed the Procedure for enrolling students in first grade, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This is stated in a message from the press service of the Ministry of Education and Science on the social network Facebook.
“In order to enter school, first-graders will not be forced to undergo any competitions to test their knowledge. Everyone will have guaranteed access to education as close to their place of residence as possible. This is one of the important principles of the education reform #NewUkrainianSchool,” it says.
The document will come into force after publication in the Official Gazette of Ukraine - May 8.
The text of the final agreed edition was also published.
The civil association “Parents SOS” created an infographic with a diagram of the mechanism for enrollment in the first grade, where they explained in detail what documents need to be submitted for enrollment, and who has priority for enrollment.
As reported, first-graders will be allocated to vacant places in schools by a lottery drum. Earlier, Education Minister Liliya Grinevich said she wanted lots to be drawn for enrollment in empty places in schools.
