This is stated in the response of the Ministry of Education to a request from public activist Vitaly Furmanyuk.
“I assume that many teachers and parents will criticize Liliya Mikhailovna for this decision, but I am sure that she has taken an important and courageous step in the fight against corruption and violations of rights in educational institutions. After all, it is the decisions of the “Parental Committee” that the administration of institutions justify the collection of unaccounted cash, the hiring of security, and even the expulsion of children from institutions,” Furmanyuk wrote.
The order, dated December 21, 2017, cancels the order dated June 2, 2004 “On approval of the approximate regulations on parent committees (councils).”
This document provided that the parent committee was subordinate and accountable to the school-wide parent meeting and was elected for a year.
Parental committees have been abolished in accordance with the new law “On Education”. Thus, the parent community has lost the previously existing opportunity to at least somehow influence the educational process.
